We asked for your thoughts on Celtic’s Scottish League Cup win over Rangers.
Here’s what some of you said:
Rock : It’s not our best performance, but it’s still Trophy 119. The sign of a good team is getting results when they’re not playing well. The players gave everything. It’s great to see little James Forrest win his 25th major title. What are the chances he will reach 27 by May 2025? Onwards and upwards.
Steven: Celtic are miles off the pace of the first half in particular, defensive errors across the park. Saved by our talented wingers Nicolas Kuhn and the icy Daizen Maeda. Lots of lessons for Brendan Rodgers for the upcoming New Year’s trip around town.
Michael: Football Cup Final, Celtic know how to stay calm and get the job done because they have dominated Scottish football for almost 15 years. The Rangers played well but don’t have a winning mentality.
Stéphane: In the first half Celtic were very bad, in the second half we only really played our real football for 15 minutes. In the end, Celtic were far from their best and still won.
Michael: We didn’t push them hard enough, we played too backwards when we had the pace to reach them. However, we will achieve victory. Well done Celtic, a great victory, who showed great strength and determination.
Hugues: It was a gripping and entertaining match and one of the most competitive Old Firm finals ever. However, let’s not get too excited; Rangers played to their maximum potential and came up short, Celtic underperformed but once again found a way to win. The next two transfer windows could determine who will be the dominant force in the coming years.
John: Cameron Carter-Vickers = player of the match. Four to one? No problem. Tough match, Rangers are playing better again, they silenced Callum McGregor, and they silenced Kyogo but still can’t silence Daizen Maeda.
